Reviews and Ratings
My stay at the hotel was fantastic! The rooms were very comfortable and spacious, with super king zip and link beds and heavy curtains to block out the light. The evening entertainment till the early hours with great 60s DJs and a fabulous Northern Soul band, along with the delicious evening buffet, made the experience truly enjoyable. However, the room lacked a little character. The service was impeccable, retaining its olde worlde charm, and the staff could not have been more helpful, especially the Receptionist. The location was very convenient for exploring Colchester and the Essex coast, close to the A12 but still very quiet. The dining experience, particularly the breakfast served in our room, was exceptional, with pleasant and helpful staff delivering a huge meal. Overall, a great value for the money with extensive sporting facilities and a cozy restaurant nearby.
The hotel offers spacious and beautifully furnished rooms reminiscent of a Laura Ashley Hotel without any pretense. The rooms are lovely, with a large and beautiful old bathroom, although some felt a bit cold and the cleanliness of the bathrooms could have been better. Overall, the rooms were fine.
My stay at the hotel was a mix of positives and negatives. The rooms, despite being a bit outdated, offered a cozy and quaint feel with lovely views over the lake, but they were uncomfortably warm due to the heating system. The service was excellent with helpful and friendly staff, although the early morning noise from cleaning was a bit of a downside. The location was beautiful, perfect for a relaxing getaway despite not being showcased at its best at all times. The dining experience was enjoyable, with a good variety of options offered. Overall, a pleasant stay with some room for improvement.
